“Teach girls bravery, not perfection” by: Reshma Saujani
Why is it that men will apply for a job if they only meet 60% of the requirements while women will only apply for a job when they meet 100% of the requirements?? When you’re told there’s NO WAY you can do something! Fight through it and prove them wrong! Let that be your motivation! You don’t have to go after the careers that you KNOW 100% that you will succeed in! Be smart, but learn how to take risks!
Socialize your daughters to be brave, not to be perfect!!
This was an amazing and eye-opening TED talk! Did you realize that 80% of people don’t enjoy their jobs! Are you one of them? Why are you doing the work that you’re doing? Is it because it was someone else’s idea for you? Is it because you have a “stable” job with benefits, but find yourself hating going to work??? Why?? Do you really think that’s the only stable job out there?? Yes, many of us have families that we support and have to be smart about our choices in careers…we can’t usually just up and quit a job…but you can certainly work your way and organize yourself to be able to walk away! Don’t get stuck!!
If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’re never going to find it! You need to ask yourself: What are your strengths? What are your values? Know what your soul is made of so you don’t get trapped into selling it!
There are plenty of people out there who are successful at doing what YOU want to do!! When you see someone who inspires you, ask yourself what is it about them that is inspiring?
There’s 2 reasons why you aren’t doing what you are meant to do…. 1. Because you tell yourself you can’t and 2. Because the people you surround yourself with are telling you that you can’t! Be careful of who you have surrounding you! You are the average of the 5 people that you choose to surround yourself.
So I started a clean eating challenge group today…I can’t remember the last time I was so mindful of what I ate! To prepare snacks and know what I was eating for the day was just a wonderful feeling! I didn’t realize how much I missed this! The one major thing I noticed is that I DO NOT drink enough water!!! You know, it’s really true when they say that when you’re reaching for water because you’re “so thirsty”, you’re already dehydrated!! We need to drink water ALL day long!! So get your water bottles full and ready to go, your body will thank you!
So my boyfriend and I are about 4 years late on getting into the Netflix show House of Cards…and OMG! I love Kevin Spacey, but I am really loving the actress who plays his wife, Robin Wright.
She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, which was a first for an online-only web tv series! She is very commanding of the camera and has a strong presence on the screen. She started on the old soap, Santa Barbara and since then has been in several movies such as: The Princess Bridge, Toys, Forrest Gump, Message in a Bottle and Moneyball, to name a few. She was married to actor Sean Penn with whom she has 2 kids. She is the Honorary Spokesperson for The Gordie Foundation and is an advocate for the Enough Project. She is also a partner of The SunnyLion which gives a portion of its profit back to the Raise Hope for Congo Movement.
I look forward to watching her on the show, I love her style and look forward to her future work (2017 Wonder Woman!).
With Easter coming up quickly, now is a good time to look into your local Easter egg hunts and pictures with the Easter Bunny!
Our favorite thing that we do each year is the Easter Egg Hunt at Town Square. The egg hunts are broken into different age groups and there are always PLENTY of eggs for everyone! There are a ton of family activities while you wait for your scheduled time (registration opens at 8am and noon for the afternoon hunt times)! There’s face painting, a balloon artist, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall and tons of booths!
With all of the home or retail businesses out there and all the competitors selling similar products, guess what? No one really cares about your product, they care about why and what you believe in! People are buying YOU, not necessarily your product!
How to make a profit while making a difference: Audrey Choi
Teaching people that one person making a difference can lead to others making a difference which can lead to saving many lives and even our planet.
How many people ask you or do you ask where something was bought because they (or you) like what you have? We all do it at some point, whether it’s a coffee mug, shoes, a purse…So yes, that one recycled cup that you just bought will add up.
